A New Addition at the Estancia

November 13, 2009

Earlier this week, some other volunteers were driving to the other side of the park when they saw what they believed to be a dead sheep being eaten by condors. Upon further inspection, however, they realized that the sheep was still alive and that its lamb was huddled next to it, unsure of what to do. Don Betancourt, one of the guardaparques (park rangers) here), did what had to be done and ended the sheep’s suffering. They then brough it to a puesto where it went from a dead sheep to an assortment of cuts ready to be cooked in approximately five minutes.

Jeinimeni, about to be snatched.

The happy result of this (for those who don’t eat the meat) is the above corderito, named after the nearby national park.
